Upper Geyser Basin

It’s time for the next national park and maybe the best-known in the United States: Yellowstone National Park. One of our first stops was the most famous geyser in the park, Old Faithful. It had just erupted when we arrived and we had to wait for about ninety minutes for the next eruption. That gave us plenty of time to explore the surrounding area of the Upper Geyser Basin, which has got the highest concentration of geothermal features in the park and is full of smaller and larger geysers as well as lots of hot springs and pools.

Seen here in the foreground are Heart Spring and the Lion Group Geysers. In the background, on the other side of Firehole River is Castle Geyser.
