Photographer's Note

This is a re-post of an old shot I never was happy with. I posted this so long ago that I didn't even know to sharpen it after re-sizing to 800 pixels wide back then. For this one I lightened the shadows more to reveal more of the trees, increased the contrast while retaining detail in the clouds and tried a different crop. I the first post I cloned out the park road and cropped out all foreground rocks but I decided to keep them there in this time. This is my original note:

This is Poudre Lake in Rocky Mountain NP. It is around 10,700 feet, and it is also located right at the Continental Divide. This lake and everything in front goes to the Atlantic and everything behind me goes to the Pacific.
Regarding the lake being slightly cropped at its edges, that happened for two reasons. First, as I was taking the picture I was zoomed out as much as possible, and so I had to sacrifice the right hand side of the lake. The left portion was cropped out slightly because I was trying to hide the park road, as it was a distraction in the original photograph.
