Photographer's Note

Grand Canyon National Park is the United States' 15th oldest national park. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, the park is located in Arizona. The park's central feature is the Grand Canyon, a gorge of the Colorado River, which is often considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The park covers 1,217,262 acres (492,608 hectares) of land.
I am sure that many of you have visited this park. This was our fourth visit. Last Spring 2014 we spent several days there staying at the El Tovar. This major hotel requires a year in advance reservations. There is no parking for guests at the hotel, so you find a place as close to the hotel as you can, and leave your car there and use the shuttle buses. The latter are sometimes full with employees on their way to work plus most of the places to visit requires at least one shuttle bus change. There are plenty of walkers, hikers and trails. I also did my share of walking, but did not visit my favorite area, Desert View, as it was 20 miles from our hotel. We left there a day early, albeit we forfeited our last day's lodging fees.

I took lots of pictures of two areas and have posted two of them recently. I will post a few more in the coming weeks. I will try not to show the usual landscape with the rock rims and horizon. Hope they will look different to some of you that have been there.
