Photographer's Note

We drove from Anchorage to Denali but massive wildfires had been burning along the way. As a result we were stopped north of Willow for 1½ hours as only one lane was open to keep the other lane for fire fighters. An escort vehicle then took us through.
We were stopped beside the pretty Kashwitna Lake (this photo) for that time as the queue grew longer - see the workshop for a photo of the queue. You can see burnt trees on the far side of the lake.

As we drove on we saw extensive areas burnt out such as in the other workshop photo which I would have made a main posting except that as we were moving my wife took the photo.
