Photographer's Note

Yesterday I posted a shot of the recreation of the city wall. Here is a shot of the original City Gate that still remains much as it was constructed. First opened in 1739, it provided the only entrance to the city on the north side. The pillars were later added by Royal Engineer Manuel De Hita in 1808 and are made of the native coquina stone found in the area.
