I visited the lobby of Clark Kentís office a few days ago. :-) In the Movie ďSupermanĒ this was the home of the Daily Planet, the newspaper that Superman worked for when he wasnít busy saving people. In real life, this is the lobby of the Daily News Building, named after an actual New York newspaper.
This lesser-known Art Deco building was built between 1929 and 1930. The Daily News no longer has its offices here, but the name, and thankfully the iconic lobby, have remained unchanged.
As you can see here, there is a large, illuminated globe in the lobby. Itís actually the worldís largest indoor globe, and it slowly revolves. There is also a stepped, circular pit underneath. Above the globe is a black, glass-domed ceiling. Oddly, though, the globe itself hasnít been updated in several decades, so donít expect to find current geographic information on it. Other interesting sights in the lobby are a giant compass on the floor, various brass, meteorological instruments, and clocks from various time zones around the world.
The Daily News Building is located on East 42nd Street, and itís both a city and national landmark.
Unfortunately, I didnít run into Superman that day. :-)
In the WS are some closer views.

Hello Brenda, What a fascinating place and your note about it. I haven't seen anything about Superman, but I suppose I have seen this building, probably not inside. What a pity. This is the political map on this globem so it must be interesting to explore it. It seem that it levitate in kind of fog. Superb composition.

It's a very interesting lobby which I am sure did well in the movie. It's a very classy kind of architecture with a lot of interesting decorations on the walls, and of course the globe is the unbeatable centre-piece. The workshops allow us to realize just how big it is. It's a very good photo with well handled light and a catchy title.

I always get a little sad when I see reruns on tv of Christopher Reeve as Superman and the WTC. Both are now gone. But thankfully this iconic globe is still here today. Good interior lighting with superb sharpness. Tfs!

Great series of three pictures of these super globe. Pity you did meet Superman here. It should be a marvellous selfie of you with superman next to you.
Everything well here. I hope for you the same. Alas this year no NY. We will travel this year from Vancouver to Las Vegas.

I was going to ask if you met Superman but your notes revealed the sad truth! That would have been the icing on the cake!
It's an amazing place! Wonderfully Art Deco!
I would imagine that it was difficult to photograph but you have provided a sharp, informative shot.
My warm regards,

It's an impressive indoor with mixture of lighting and good looking lay out when seen large. The format works well to suggest size as well as having the enthusiasts falls on the third of the picture which is neat and really helps pulling the eye together to the glowing centre stage as a strong feature.
Lovely and even not really any blown highlights so to speak and exciting to be part of this quiet & spacious interior. Its sharp and lovely natural colours with excellent contrast. Certainly very eye-catching, you must be pleased with the result as much as I do, Congrats.
