Photographer's Note

When life hands you lemons...

It was raining, it was cold, and it was thoroughly overcast when I arrived at Portland Head Light a half hour before sunrise. We saw no sign of sunlight beyond a faint orange glimmer on the horizon for about five minutes. It was a constant balancing act: fiddling with the camera while keeping my umbrella aloft.

In my early photography days, I read that a good photographer can pull out photographic gold from even the worst of circumstances. I don't know that this is photographic gold, but perhaps it's photographic silver or bronze?

I purposely gave the photo a blue cast to accentuate the peaceful melancholy of the scene and the sea.
