Vltava

This photo was taken standing on Střelecký ostrov, one of the small islands in the river Vltava (also known as the Moldau in German) in the centre of Prague. It offered an amazing view of the Old Town and some of the buildings close to the Charles Bridge (you can see one arch of the bridge at left). The Vltava is known as the Czech National River and served as inspiration for one of the six symphonic poems of the classical piece Má Vlast (My Homeland) by Bedřich Smetana, whose museum is the building at left.
