Photographer's Note

Summer is upon us and this summer has already granted us sun, warmth and beach days in abundance.
We don't have tropical summers here, but the summer season is wonderful just the same. The Danish summer is fresh with temperatures between 19 and 23 C. Since the country is almost completely surrounded by water, spending the summer, licking sun, sailing or just strolling along the water edge are outdoor activities, we enjoy.
The photo shows Denmark’s most beautiful natural harbour, Dyvig Baadelaug. It is scenically situated at the end of a small bay on the island of Als in South Jutland. Denmark is a land of coastlines and a nation of seafarers with a long-standing maritime tradition. Apart from the three main islands, there are hundreds of others, and this is where the true character of Denmark lies.

Hello Harriet,

A summer picture but everything is very quiet the small boats remain quiet in the marina.
You chose a very well angle with the small old wood pier in foreground.
You create excellent depth and perspective.
Composition and presentation re pleasant to look at.

Hi Harriet,
charmy and tanquil is the Summer in Dyvig,with the lot of sailing boats to are anchored on the backdop of the image,in the harbour of the town.
The wooden pier adds depth and perspective in the scene.

the forest of masts in great contarst to the trees grove along the bay and the calm water surface of the water.

I enjoy this seaside scenery very much, it looks lovely, peaceful and familiar. Your composition is excellent with the diagonal of the jetty leading us into the frame and underlining the packed little harbor ahead. The sense of depth is very effective and agreeable, the colours are delightful. I also like the transparency and texture of the water as well as the rippling, dark reflection. The long jetty makes a fine part of this picture with its long diagonal line. A very peaceful and pleasant summer view with all the boats in the background.

Hello Harriet,
The jetty is well placed in the foreground. Its rickety and home-made appearance gives it a lot of charm. I am sure the crowded marina seen across the bay looks more sophisticated. This is a nice photo from Als, which is very frequently used in Swedish crosswords.

tropical summers but the summer season is
wonderful just the same Here in Greece
the weather is quite different with sudden
changes of the weather and rains
I love this peaceful atmospherewith the boats in the background the reflections on the surface of the sea
and the clouds running into the blue sky
the view has been taken with a nice view

Your photograph perfectly complements your notes. I have only been to Denmark once and I perfectly understand your description.
A beautifully composed shot gives us an anchored f/g for depth, a wonderfully interesting lead via the jetty and a b/g of clustered yachts, worthy of our attention.

Ein charmantes Sommerfoto aus Dänemark. Der, schön platzierte, Steg im Vordergrund schein mir nicht besonders stabil zu sein. Welch ein Kontrast zur mondänen Marina im Hintergrund.

Hallo Harriet. Eine Wasserlandschaft mit Bootssteg und Booten im Hintergrund. Mich wundert, dass so wenig Boote auf Fahrt sind. Aber es muss ja auch im Sommer Ruhepausen geben. Für Spaziergänger und Fotografen spielt das keine Rolle, denn es geht um das Seherlebnis. Dieses ruhige und kontemplative Foto gefällt mir sehr gut.

the image with the small wooden pier in the foreground very smartly placed in the composition. The diagonal angle at which it leads an eye is interesting and makes the picture more diversified. I very much like the well saturated colors as well as optimum sharpness.

About the capture and Summer, from far I prefer that kind of Summer and also the capture , the pier going deep inside the water in a good diagonal and the view of the waiting inviting boats at the back

Nach einigen Reisen muss ich doch mal wieder "vorbeischauen". Du verstehst es immer wieder, diese besondere "nordische" Stimmung in Deinen Bildern festzuhalten. Wieder strahlt hier alles Ruhe und Gelassenheit aus und dieser etwas "wackelige" Steg als Hauptdarsteller ergänzt diesen Eindruck wunderbar.

Excellent lake view in very good light. The arrangement with the wooden catwalk is nicely leading eye in to the scene. The water reflections are also very nice.
