Photographer's Note

A suburban train approaching its last stop at Churchgate Station in downtown Bombay in April 1973. It may have been so totally packed that some passengers couldn't get safely inside, but it's just as possible that they preferred to lean out like this just for fun. To me, coming from a country full of safety regulations everywhere, this was a sight that I just had to capture on a photo.

There is another photo from the same area in the workshop. Both photos were scanned from Kodachrome slides. The map coordinates 18.93983 72.82689 will show you very approximately where this was taken.

Here is a larger version of the main photo.
