Photographer's Note

The Universidad Intercultural del Estado de Tabasco (UIET) is located at the top of the hill that descends into the village of Oxolatan, about 1 kilometre east of the Ex Convento. I noticed it as we came in on the Oxolatan - Tacotalpa highway, and asked Alfonso to stop on the return journey. They had a welcome sign near the road in several languages, so how can a traveller ignore such an invitation. The university is targeted at the needs of indigenous people. there appeared to be no students around and maybe I was there on a term break. The security guard came over to chat with Alfsonso, as I, in turn, walked around to the west side to photograph the buildings against the backdrop of the sierra. The university library sits to the south on the other side of the road. Geo coordinates in Google Earth are: N and W with elevation at 118 metres.
