Photographer's Note

The small town of Cupilco lies about 12 kilometres southeast of Comalcalco. It is noted for the market, and the handicraft skills of the residents. This is the facade of the late 18th early 19th century church at the south end of the town dedicated to Mary, mother of Jesus, as Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion. The feast day is celebrated August 15. All of these brilliant colours have been applied over stucco.
