Photographer's Note

I returned to the entrance via the side aisle, passing the manger scene. It was then I encountered the carved and gilded sculpture in wood depicting Mary, Mother of Jesus. It was only on All Saints' Day, November 1, 1950, that Pope Pius XII, proclaimed, ex cathedra, that she had ascended into heaven, in the same manner as her son at the end of the earthly life. And this church, inter alia, is dedicated to her as Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion.

Regaining the plaza, Eduardo and Alfonso, guide and driver, were ready to take me further southeast on the Cocoa Route the 10 kilometres to Jalpa de Mendez.
