Photographer's Note

This is one of the most photographed places in the Canadian Rockies, because it's only about 2 km from the town of Banff, so people staying there can get there quite easily. There are a series of small lakes, called the Vermillion Lakes, over which you can view the neighbouring mountains. The large mountain in the picture is Mount Rundle, which has a very distinctive shape, with the upturned rock showing the how the Canadian Rockies were formed as flat, sedimentary rock was pushed upward.
