View above the Rideau Canal looking to the north-west. In the background to the left is Canada's Parliament building (both Centre & East Block are visible). To the right is the Chateau Laurier hotel.

Soon the canal below will be open to the public for staking. It's the largest skating rink in the world. As you see in the photo, snow is currently covering the canal, which hinders the formation of the ice below (it insulates the canal from the cold air).

I have only made slight adjustments to the contrast / levels. The golden glow over the city is due to light pollution that reflects off of low lying clouds.
