Photographer's Note

This is Mount Chephren and Waterfowl Lake, taken as the sun rises over the mountains. Chephren was originally called Pyramid Mountain, because of it's shape, but it turns out that there is another mountain in the Rockies that is also called Pyramid Mountain, so they decided to change the name to avoid confusion. Chephren was a Pharaoh of ancient Egypt and builder of the second of the 3 great pyramids at Giza. This view from across the lake shows how the mountain resembles a pyramid.

This is similar to an earlier post, taken a little bit later when the sun was higher.

There is a great campground located at Waterfowl Lake, perhaps the most scenic campground in the entire Canadian Rockies. I highly recommend staying there if possible, just for the opportunity to wake up to this view!
