Photographer's Note

This photo was made on the same evening in June last year when I shot something like ten of my most favorite shots of the year in under an hour from a spot about four meters long and four meters wide, with possibility of certain death if I ventured anywhere outside this area.

This gentleman decided to enjoy the sunset, dropped his bike, and came and sat right at the edge of my 4x4 sq.m. spot. So instead I made him a part of my world. The 10-22 lens makes the man seem as if he's miles away - and this is one aspect of the lens I love so much!

BTW, this is at the edge of a dock that was once used in Parc Rene-Levesque, and bifurcates the St-Laurent river into the Lachine Canal shipping lane. The dock is now completely eroded, and more and more parts of it go under every year. Which makes sure I can make a new shot here every season of every year!

I am still wondering if the title is appropriate; the "Distant" part of the title seems to cover the vast sky and the sunset, and the "Dreams" covers the man; but is this title enough to cover the whole scene, including the water and the boulderscape around the man? What do you think?

20D, 10-22mm, Singh-Ray 3-stop hard step, etc. etc.
