Photographer's Note

More fun with snowshoes! This time, instead of looking toward the sun I'm looking in the opposite direction, and casting a big shadow. This shot probably shows more clearly than my previous post the tracks that the snowshoes make. Someone remarked that they didn't look very big, and that they looked like just regular footprints, but trust me, these are snowshoes. The old style shoes are much bigger, and usually had a long tail. Made out of wood, and with a mesh of strings, they looked something like tennis raquets. The modern snowshoes are high tech, made of plastic and metal, and usually a lot smaller, making them easier to use. It's becoming a popular sport now, because you can do it anywhere, not just at an expensive ski hill.
