Olympic Plaza

This urban park in downtown Calgary is the Olympic Plaza. Calgary was host for the 1988 Winter Olympics and the Olympic Plaza was used for the medal ceremonies. The games are in particular for British ski jumper Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards and the debut of the Jamaica bobsleigh team, both subjects of major films made about their Olympic participations. The names of all the winners are found on plaques around the pavilion on the other side of the fountain.

The most prominent tower in the background is The Bow (236 metres) , which I used for this photo. The building still under construction is Telus Tower, which will be the third-tallest building in the city upon completion (222 metres).
