Photographer's Note

Immediately south of the Students' Union on the North Campus of the University of Alberta, there is an entry point to the Van Vliet Complex: this is the heart of the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation. The complex comprises, in a number of structures, the main gym, Wilson Climbing Centre, a dance school, physical activity and wellness centre, and of course, the Universiade Pavilion. The latter is also known as the Butterdome, owing to its colour. Above the entrance, a sculpture of a very fit male in the Greek style suggests a theme, not at all intended to be gender specific.
