Photographer's Note

It overlooks the valley of the North Saskatchewan River to the south. East we have the Shaw Conference Centre and its atrium (straight ahead). West is the Edmonton Welcome Centre while across Jasper Avenue to the north, there is Canada Place. The memorial tablets record the names of those who died in battle; fittingly, so their sacrifices may not be forgotten. Walking among them one feels both a sense of peace, and a sense of loss, for lives that were not able to render a full accounting of their potential.
