Photographer's Note

A capture I'd made 4 years ago in the fishery harbour of Urla, a small but nice village on the Aegean shores, south of İzmir.

Fishermen of the district are cleaning their boats and preparing their nets and fishing gear for a long night on the seas, hoping to get a big catch.

It was a habit in the late 19th century, that the first fisher boats started their ever first fishing periode in late September, with a great ceremony, where also religious leaders -İslamic, Christian and Jewish- participated, and sent the fishers with their prayers to the seas.
