Mardin is a beatiful ancient town positioned on a hillside overlooking the Mesopotamian plains and Syrian border at the south. Mardin is one of the oldest settlements of the world. First settlers arrived there in the third century. Its historic centre is candidate for World Heritage List. Mardin is famous for its stone houses and its fortress built on the hill overlooking the city.
