Photographer's Note

I like to post a mixture of both my old and more recent shots on this site.
This is one of my older ones, taken on the island of Buyuk Ada in Istanbul. Buyuk Ada is the largest of the Princes' Islands, a quiet, charming place that provides a welcome respite from the more frenetic and energetic areas of Istanbul. Private motor vehicles are banned here, and horse-drawn carriages traverse the leafy streets, which are lined with some magnificent wooden houses.
For some reason, the place is infested with cats; they sit on every available surface, soaking up the sun. I've always liked this shot; it looks like the street sweeper is taking a break from sweeping up the lazy creatures.
