Photographer's Note

from Zaha Hadid to I.M. Pei

The Museum of Islamic Art is built on an artificial island off Doha’s Corniche and houses a really impressive collection of art and artefacts from the Islamic world.

The design by I.M. Pei incorporates various elements from traditional Islamic architecture.

I.M. Pei is a Chinese-American architect. He is probably best known for the Louvre pyramids. He celebrated his 100th birthday earlier this year, which means I'm a bit late with my birthday wishes.

Happy birthday!

This picture was taken looking up inside the museum. The design of the ceiling again incorporates various elements of traditional islamic architecture.

The sun/star at the top left is the highest point of the ceiling, the round curve below holds artificial light. Three floors of the museum are included on the right.
