Castle Babak, also known as the Immortal Castle or Republic Castle, is an impressive and huge building citadel on the top of a mountain in the Arasbaran forests, at 2,600 m. above sea level, which is located 16 km southwest of Kaleibar City in northwestern Iran. The castle is surrounded by gorges as deep as 400 to 600 meters, is believed to belong to the Parthian dynasty and modified under the Sasanid dynasty. To reach the castle, one has to trek a tortuous and narrow passageway and then cross a corridor-shaped temple, 200 meters in lengths.
Babak Fort was the refuge and the campsite where Babak Khorramdin and his followers began their resistance movement against the Abbasid caliphs in 816 A.D. and it took 22 years till Babak was killed. They were then called “the rebellions of Sorkh-Jamegan (red wears).
People gather in the fort on 9th of July each year to celebrate Babak Khorramdin resistance.

This is simply impressive. I am wondering how people could survive up there if being surrounded by the enemy at the bottom of the hill. The view is magnificent and your photo work is really excellent. Well done.

Bonjour,
belle photo de ces rochers, bien vert recouvert par la mousse, les herbes et arbres et buissons, cela rend parfois la progression difficille mais ho combien la vue de cette nature est belle.

Amitiés Thomas

Salam Atousa

There is nothing special about the landscape surrounding the Qila, but its amazingly serene. The PoV you chose lends a great depth to the scene with the most beautiful light falling on the rock face.

Thanks for sharing

Salaam Atousa,

It's an impressive place and it's very well presented. I like the dark small (?) gorge at the FG bottom and the graphic arrangement of the rocky but also verdant scarp and the FG. The only thing less well is that bright white sky, but I don't see how that could be avoided. It's interesting how the total absence of anything that gives a sense of scale makes us wondering about the real dimensions of things; but I don't consider that a flaw, I kind of like the puzzling effect.

I like also the WS, not only because it complements the presentation, but because of its compo. I like that starkness and duotone (pinkish grey of the granite versus the blue of the sky).

Regards, José.

Hello my friend Atousa:

Wow, that beautiful and majestic panorama.

This type of landscape, so beautiful and majestic, really are not very popular in the West, especially in South America, thanks for sharing.

I love the style of this rock formation, such as balanced as the capture and depth of field that gives the access road. Excellent.

John

Hi Atousa
The vertical presentation works well here as it accentuates the height of the fort. Great write up. Lots of history.

Bonjour Atousa
I like to see how the castle is part of the mountain and dominates the valley! The framing is well done and I like the fact there is a kind of entrance in FG! The mountains fading in the far are a nice detail to look! Thanks for the closer view!
Cheers
Marilyn

The castle is located in a very strategic position, perched high up on the cliff. I'm sure there's an earlier route in climbing this cliff, as we can see a small pathway in the WS. Exposure control is well done, especially when we see shadows in the FG. Good work here!

Salam Atousa,
The side light gave nice shadows highlighting the reliefs and textures of the rocky mountain with a castle on top.
Looks like a difficult to reach place... Thanks for sharing your travels!
Greetings
