Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Some parts of the U.K. have had deep coverings of snow but in N.E. Lancashire, we have just had a light dusting, enough to cover the surfaces but not enough to cause any problems.
As I went for a walk to see how the snow had affected the landscape, I recalled just how deep and disruptive it had been last year, when we had to walk to the nearest town to collect groceries.
Somehow, it often looks prettier in the snow.
This is a farm track, near our house, the farm nestling at the end and a winter tree trying to dwarf it.
Just for interest, I will add a workshop, showing a lady blackbird in our garden.
Have a lovely day, Bev :-)

Hello Beverley,
Such a lovely landscape, which indeed looks so charming with this thin layer of snow. The composition is very good with the trees in the middle and the path leading up the house. The soft, subdued light is also very pleasant and adds a fine mood.

Hello Bev,
How lucky you are to live near such a dramatic landscape. The farm track and drystone walls provide great leading lines, and the tree and house interrupt what might otherwise look a rather bleak landscape in winter.
Lovely photo.
Kind Regards, Ann

Hello Bev,
It's a plain but beautiful composition. The low walls lining the road, the trees and the cottage provide good focal-points among the snow. The road makes a nice curve towards the side of the photo and the exposure is faultless. It's a kind of view that an amateur painter would love to capture, but on a cold day photos are more convenient. The WS photo of the blackbird is very nice too. I didn't have the impression that they need to be very hungry to come close to where people live, but maybe they adapt differently in different environments. I often have a blackbird singing from a tree just outside my kitchen window, and I live in the centre of a major city,
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Bev,
A lovely winter composition. Well considered, using the tree and farmhouse as reference points and to create depth and perspective. Nicely rendered colours and details despite the heavily overcast sky.

Hello Beverley
Hooray! At last, with only 3 weeks of winter left. I like the minimalist colors, superb sharpness and wonderful graphism of light and shade. The curving snowy road adds superb lead in lines. Tfs!

Hello Bev,
Also your second picture with the female blackbird is nice, in Belgium are almost all dead through Usutu - virus.
You life in a very lovely area close to the farm.
You chose an excellent angle, this create much depth and perspective.
Lovely panorama view with pleasant colours.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice day,
John.

Hello Bev
More than a dusting, by our standards down in the soppy South! In fact, we've had none at all on the coast where we live. This is a lovely scene, and I'd have been out there myself with weather like that. Nice composition, with the snowy lane leading our eyes towards the farmhouse.

It doe's look prettier when it snow, Beverly, but I can only imagine you take a walk on such a cold weather...
Placed the big tree at the curve of the trail, on the middle of the slope, which gave extra sense of depth to the beautiful picture.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Bev
Great pov, with the country road leading beautifully into the scene, towards the house in the distance. I might be wrong, but I seem to remember this view from an earlier picture you've posted. (That's no criticism, btw!)

Bonjour Beverly,
Quelques pouces de neige et le paysage change du tout au tout. Le regard suit naturellement le chemin de neige dans l'image, ce qui lui donne de la profondeur. L'arbre et la maison , les deux points focaux sont tous deux d'une grande netteté.

Hello Beverley,
I see that you have the same weather conditions in the UK like we here in Luxembourg. Very fine rural scenery perfectly presented with your shot. The snow covered street is guiding our view into the shot. TFS.

Hello Bev,
When it snows, I always feel like a little boy of about 10 years old. So you understand that this photo appeals to me. We had this kind of dusting or snow twice this winter, but the next day it was already gone.
The blackbird also appeals to me very much. Every day a couple of them visit our garden eating from the food we did hang at the branches.
Well done!
Have a nice day. Groet Rob

Hi Bev,
Surely fresh snow looks better than bare brown landscape in the middle of winter. Nice curving track tho that old house. The tree is perfectly placed.

Ciao Bev
perfetto paesaggio invernale, ben fotografato e composto.
Meglio che non ci sia stata una nevicata troppo invadente da bloccare ogni cosa, ma quanto basta per poter dare un tono diverso al paesaggio senza creare problemi alla popolazione.
Saluti

Hi Bev
Getting in on the act with snow photos. I can rarely do it as where I live there is only decent snow once every 3 or 4 years. It may not be extensive snow but it certaily has made for a good image especially in the large view.
cheers

Hello Beverly,
really elegant, the beauty of winter! There are grey clouds, but I can see a bit of sunshine on the snow in the foreground. But I am glad we have about 8°C here today, and I must admit, I can do without snow.
Kind regards,
Elvira

Hello Beverley, a beautiful winters scene; a lovely reminder of the countryside typical of where I come from.
Perfect composition, and lovely colours.
I am putting this into my favourites, thank you.

PS. I forgot to say how much I like the picture of the blackbird too. Smartphone cameras are so good.

Hello, Bev.
A wonderful composition with that snowy landscape, but that also gives us that touch of solitude and silence. The road gives a good perspective to the house in the background, that great solitary tree gives a beautiful graphics on a sky of different shades of gray.
Wonderful clarity and light.
Very well done. I like very much.
Have a nice day. My sincere greetings.

Hi Bev
yes, things almost always look prettier in the snow, i can't argue with that. this is one cool looking tree, i wonder if at night it would be quite haunting. love the road, the stone wall, the exterior wall of the building in the bg, its just a lovely scene all around. PS - thank you for the kind words regarding Joanne and I getting engaged :) Happy Times for sure!
cheers

Hi Bev,
this looks like proper snow!
I couldn't believe it! I thought it was from previous years.
We had last weekend a tiny bit of snow on Saturday which was enough to make a small snowman but it melted next day. And that was the first snow this season...
So what you show here seems quite abundant.
Beautiful composition with the motif of the road and the lone tree and the house in the centre of the image.
The sky is subtly darker than the snow which help to balance the exposition better.
Beautiful winter scene,
M
