Photographer's Note
As I have stated in my first posts of London pictures, a town you are visiting is characterised not only by its famous monuments and landmarks but also by the features you are in daily contact with and where you spend much of your time. According to this view the London underground is very representative of this huge city, not only because of its characteristic symbol which you find everywhere but mostly because London it’s unthinkable without its underground train system which allows you to move around at a reasonable speed and finally because it’s the place where – in the end – you find you have spent most of your time during your time there.

History
On 12 April 1869, the Metropolitan District Railway (MDR, now the District Line) opened tracks through Earl's Court as part of a south-westward extension from its station at Gloucester Road to West Brompton where the MDR opened an interchange with the West London Extension Joint Railway (WLEJR, now the West London Line). At its opening, the extension had no intermediate station.
The 1870s was a busy decade for the MDR. On 3 July 1871 the MDR opened a northward link from the West Brompton branch which connected to the Inner Circle (now the Circle Line) south of High Street Kensington. Shortly afterwards, on 30 October 1871, the MDR opened its first station at Earl's Court.
The original station was on the east side of Earls Court Road rather than the west. On 1 February 1872, the MDR opened a northbound branch west of Earl's Court station to the WLEJR which it connected to at Addison Road (now Kensington (Olympia)). From that date the "Outer Circle" service began running over the MDR's tracks. The service was run by the North London Railway (NLR) from its terminus at Broad Street (now demolished) in the City of London via the North London Line to Willesden Junction, then the West London Line to Addison Road and the MDR to Mansion House — at that time the eastern terminus of the MDR.

Ciao Donato,
What I like here the most is the extraordinary atmosphere, there is this warm touch to everything. Also the many lines are passing the frame in all directions, the most important being the diagonal rails.
Very atmospheric capture, nice contrast of the cold (above) and warm lights and worlds.
Have a great weekend,
M

Ciao Donato, bella la prospettiva e i toni caldi, la foto è venuta bella nitida nonostante i bassi tempi di scatto e con buona profondità di campo nonostante l'apertura a 2,8.

Hi Donato,
Wonderful London underground shot. You perspective is very good. I really like your use of all the lines in your composition. However, what is the most impressive is the clarity and detail. You could almost read every sign. It becomes even more impressive taking into account the relatively poor lighting and the the slow shutter speed. An excellent photo job. TFS and have a nice weekend!
Cheers,
Ulf

Hi Donato
This is a picturesque impression of this train station with spectacular composition. Love the long perspective and extensive depth created here with strong diagonal lines afforded by the contrasty rail tracks taken from fairly low shooting angle. Love to see how the lines lead the eyes smoothly to the far background with lots of details and superbly exposed under available light. But I really enjoy the sense of space and great distance effect, lots of life in fine colors, sharpness and the overall contrast is good.
A delightful image well taken. Congrats
Best regards

Hi Donato, I am really enjoying your images of the UK.. The low light and low POV of this image is excellent, with the railway lines giving great depth. The Railways played a major role in the Industrial strength of UK during the Industrial Era- sadly many of the old lines are no more.. well done Rich

Ciao Donato,
Is it underground Station? It looks like railway. Superb photo. Composition, colours, sharpness, all perfect. During my last trip to UK, I spent a lot of time in the trains, they are very good, quite fast and comfortable. And when I booked my ticket in advance and as a senior, were not expensive.
Fantastic construction of the building.

Hello Donato,
This is a station that I recognize - one of the stations and part of the line that is above ground. You have caught the atmosphere very well and I like the rails that take the eye through the picture. Excellent clarity with lots of interesting detail.

Ciao caro Donato,
Ottimo lavoro, complimenti!
Ciao, passa una buona settimana!

A very nice interior shot with good perspective & depth...critical for such themes. The artificial light beautifully glows against the drab outside. Fine note about the station!

Ciao Donato,
What a great capture, plenty of details to watch, love to travel and stations are an interesting subject
What I like the most are the rails that combined with the
metallic structure of the roof add lots of symmetric to the photo
Nice warm colors

Donato,
This is a fine shot of the inside of this historic train station. The angle of the shot is great using the rails to create a diagonal through the shot. Your light management is outstanding here bringing out nice details is crisp sharpness.

Ciao Donato,
Grazie tante, e cari saluti.
Marie-Louise.
