New College at Hogwarts

When I was in Oxford, I did the City and College Tour, which I can highly recommend. It takes you to and inside many of the colleges around Oxford. Here’s one of them: New College (Collegium Novum Oxoniense), which, despite its name, was established in 1379. Its official name is St Mary's College of Winchester in Oxford, but the name New College was soon used to distinguish it from an older college. New College was founded by William of Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester and Chancellor of England.

Seen here are the cloisters and bell tower of New College, completed in 1400. It was recently used as a part of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry during the filming of some scenes for Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire. For fans: it was here that Mad-Eye Moody turned Malfoy into a ferret. Some other scenes were filmed around an old oak tree located more to the left.

There aren’t many photos which don’t need any post-processing before posting, apart from resizing, but this is one of them.
