Photographer's Note

Hello Everyone,

Last time, I posted a photograph which gave the impression of an ancient, stone circle so today, I am showing the real thing.
This is a section of Castlerigg Stone Circle, near Keswick.

Please click here to see the larger version.

I went to see it with a group of dedicated TE friends, just before twilight. The clouds were beginning to descend they added to the mystique of the setting.

Castlerigg Stone Circle stands on a superb natural plateau commanding a 360 degree view over the surrounding fells. It is composed of 38 free standing stones, some up to 3 metres (10 feet) high. It is one of Britain's earliest stone circles dating back to the Neolithic period 4000 to 5000 years ago.

It is certainly a hauntingly beautiful and atmospheric place.

I will post a second photograph, as a workshop, here showing a little more of the circle.

I hope you are staying safe, Bev :-)
