Photographer's Note

This is a 3rd photo of the Grivalea, on the Swiss side of Silvretta Arena on the Austrian-Swiss border. The main village on the Swiss side is Samnaun and on the Austrian side it is Ischgl. The height of the Grivalea is 2700 meters. This mountain is in my view the most beautiful in the area and a place close to it is called Alp Bella. Many of the names here are of Romish orgin or Romsish (Rätoromanisch in German).
Grivalea is situated in the canton of Graubünden (Grisons). About 35,000 people in this canton speak Romish that is believed to have descended from the vulgar Latin. Romish is one of the four notational languages in Switerland along with German, French and Italian. Samnaun is called Samingnun in Romish and also Ischgl on the Austrian side is of Romish origin and comes from Yscla the Romish word for island. Yscla is quite obviously very close the the Italian word for island that is isola. Alp Bella is probably also Romish and I guess it would be Alpe if it was Italian. What Grivalea means is a bit more difficult to find out.
