Photographer's Note

I don't know if this is nothing special or maybe very special.

It's from Götgatan, a major street on Södermalm island in Stockholm, an afternoon in July last year. I had been out for several hours and was just about to turn a corner to go home when I heard a woman singing a Country & Western song further up the street. She sounded quite good, so it was disappointing that she was just about to finish her concert when I arrived. I just had time to snap a few photos during her last chords.

I have no idea who this woman is. Probably a totally unknown amateur singer. But maybe some of you may recognize her as a very famous artist doing this little street gig just for fun.

I like the place where I found this little group. They were standing in front of what used to be a fashion boutique. Inside you can see various junk waiting to be taken away. On the window panes are adhesive tapes remaining from posters that had been torn down. There are also the reflections of the sizable crowd that had stopped to listen.

Here is a larger version.

The boy looks almost asleep in this picture so I will add an alternative photo where he looks more alert.

The map coordinates for this are 59.31833, 18.07125. If you move into the street you will find the boutique Alice. Those of you who know the way can move along the streets to my house in a matter of seconds. ;-)
