Photographer's Note

The romans called it "BETIS". The arabs named it "ɡwaðalkiˈβir" which means THE BIG RIVER and in Spanish is known by GUADALQUIVIR. This picture is taken a few kilometers from its estuary at Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The shore we see in front corresponds to the National Park of DONANA, one of the wildlife reserves more important in Europe. During the XVI and XVII centuries his shores saw the galleons arriving from America heading to Seville and vice versa. In this place, near a village called Trebujena, the famous film director Steven Spielberg filmed his movie "Empire of the Sun".
