Photographer's Note

This is the Portuguese Castle of Noudar seen from Las Brujas, an interpretative centre situated on the Spanish bank of the Ardila River, not far from Valencia del Mombuey. Far away in the background, we can see the small town of Barrancos.
This castle is situated on a strategic point, surrounded by the Ardila River and a Creek called Múrtega. The place has been inhabited since pre-history and the first walls were built in the 10th/11th centuries. Within its walls we can see the top of the Church devoted to Nossa Senhora do desterro, that I've already shown here and it was also in this place that the old town of Noudar existed.
