Photographer's Note

This is the City of Arts and Sciences, developed by architect Santiago Calatrava.

It's a large-scale urban recreation center for culture and science, set in the old dried-up river bed of the Turia in Valencia. Following a disastrous flood in 1957, the river was diverted along a canal to the south of the city, and the dried-out riverbed has now been transformed into a 7 kilometer long promenade through the city center, and this new 'city within the city'.

On the right side you can see the science museum, resembling a Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton or the spine of a huge prehistoric fish. Behind it is the Hemesferic, resembling a huge eyeball floating above a pool of water. The large building in the background is the opera house (Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia).
