Photographer's Note
This is Piran, the most beautiful town on Slovenian coast, although they are just three. The Municipality of Piran is renowned as the most touristically developed municipality in Slovenia. The archives reflect a rich historical tradition that reaches back to the Roman Empire. It is elieved that the first walls were built in the 7th century, extended in the 12th century, and achieved their present appearance in the 16th century as protection against Turkish raiders. In Piran it was lived one of the greatest Middle-Ages violinist and great composer Giuseppe Tartini.
The pic was shoted from the fortress on the cliff above the town. Its very clear, because the strong north-est wind was blowing, more famous under the name Bora. On the strong autumn light I have set the exposure time on 1/800 sec and I open the lens on f/4.5. From the fortress, on the other side of the bay in clear atmosphere, it could be seen even the Venice, that from Piran on the road its 200 km far away.

This is amazing, Max. The colors are stunning, and the DOF is excellent here. Wonderful composition with the red-roofed houses in the foreground, and the sea in the background. Great work!

Excellent photo. The colours and the architecture are incredible. I especially like the grand building facing us on the left and the two towers. Very well framed. Good note.

All that small houses framed in a way by the big buildings. Placing them in the foreground gives even more space. The warm red contrasting to the blue. The irregular(?) rythm of the white walls continued with that of the waves. Good note. Just
PERFECT, Max

What a crowded little city. It's interesting how the all the roof of the same color are not in the same direction as if the streets were not straight or even with no street at all.
Very good capture of the light and colors we even see the waves on the sea. The tree main buildings, churches and big on at the left make a triangle which frames well all these houses. A+

Amazing! Looks like you chose the perfect angle to show us how pretty the place is. The colors are great, and so is the sharpness, given the amount of details in the photo. But what makes it perfect is the excellent note. Thanks for taking the time to write it.

A simply beautiful picture, which brings out so well the colours of the city and of the sea.

One of the best shots of thisd type on TE! Colors, sharpness and details are unbelieveble.
Great composition also, with the right amount of sea to give a balanced composition and add an interesting element. The city looks like a ships bow cutting the waters!

Amazing place, amazing picture. I like how you divide the frame to cover the elements of manmade structures and nature's natural charm. Beautiful colours.

Comme dirais Didi le clocher est sur un point fort de l'image il est très bien mis en valeur.
La triangulation des monuments est fort jolie. La dominante de rouge égaie votre photo. Il y'a aussi un très bon contraste Bravo Max

Beautiful view Max, seems to be a lovely little town. I'd love to see some pictures from the streets here. I really like the bright red/brown roofs contrasting the azur see. The broken pattern of the sea matches the broken pattern of the roof tops in an interesting way.

Wow, what to say other than a very special place, Absolutely excellent both the place and the way you did the picture.
Piran - must remember that if I ever come to that part of Europe.

With all the traffic in TE, I completely missed this one Max but glad I just found it.
One gets the feeling the people of this town must bundle together for warmth when a cold wind sweeps across the water, just as the houses seem bundled together:-)
In addition to being a wonderful composition of these tightly fitting buildings of Piran, I also wanted to credit you for providing informative notes that allow us to discover a part of the world we seldom see.

A great and wonderful shot. Very attractive too (the "viewed" number is certainly a proof!). Excellent choice of DOF, great contrastes between the red roofes and the blue sea in the background. Angle, sharpness, the quality of details : all is perfect here. I like it very much. Congratulations.

It's certainly a beautiful town from top of this view, contrast of colours between the roofs and the sea. Excellent shot that gave a whole view of the coastal town.

A perfect viewpoint for this lovely town and shot. The only thing I can think of that might improve it would be a wider angle lens to bring in even more of the areas below and around the frame. But, as it is, it is very nice.

Let me add my admiration ffor a well compoosed picture. I've been to Piran more than 30 years ago, Brings back memories. If I am correct Piran was part of the Venetian empire. The campanillas remind us of that period.

The waves! The roofs! If you stand far enough back from this picture, the town could be a patch of flotsam at the edge of the sea. Which is to say, here humanity seems to be a part of nature and not an impostition on it.

Perfectly done picture! The contrast between the town and the water is great.
And what a lovely town! Something where I'd like to spend a weekend not counting the amount of beer I take. God, this is beautiful!
