Photographer's Note

I have been digging my archives to fill my new toy, a digital photo frame, and I was surprised for finding this one, as it is one my earliest shots with my actual camera, the first digital I ever had, and also one of my first PP's. Some of my earliest posts in TE were shot the same day of this one. Here is a link to my little Obidos gallery: *.

Óbidos is a small town of around 3000 inhabitants, 100 Km North of Lisboa seated on the top of a hill not far from the sea. Almost every house is within a medieval fortress. The time seems to have almost stopped around here at least one or two centuries ago.

The name of the town derives from the Latin term oppidum, meaning "citadel", or "fortified city". The area was taken from the Moors (Arabs and/or Berber of North West Africa origin) in 1148.

In its surroundings lies the largest coastal lagoon of Portugal.

Location (latitude, longitude): 39.36345,-9.15745
