Photographer's Note

A cliché maybe, but not one I could pass up.
In the background is the harbour and town of Ferragudo in Portugal. Once a busy fishing harbour with good restaurants, selling locally caught fish, in recent years, many of the properties were sold as holiday homes. The new owners came for the peaceful beauty and charm of the rustic working harbour and for the restaurants, which the fishermen both supplied and patronised. The fishermen were forced out by high house prices and now live and work elsewhere. The restaurants which the fishermen patronised the year round, lacked custom outside of the holiday season and they too were forced to close and move out. The newcomers now complain of a town with no life and no entertainment…………………………….
