Miranda do Douro is a Portuguese city, in the so-called Terra de Miranda.
In this region, in addition to Portuguese, mirandesa is spoken, the second official language in Portugal and that it is a local variant of the old Asturian-Leonese language, typical of the ancient Kingdom of Leon.
