A natural heritage of great value, Berlengas small archipelago, located about 10km west of Peniche, is constituted by the Berlenga Grande and adjacent reefs, the stelae and Farilhões-Forcados, being classified as a nature reserve since 1981.
The main island, the Berlenga, occupies about two thirds of the total area, the existing east-called Old Island, separated by sea erosion.
This is a place that still appears almost in its natural state, little altered by human hand, the Natural Reserve of Berlenga enchanted by the landscapes of great beauty it offers, with crystalline waters and beautiful natural places.
It is worth knowing the nooks of this natural wonder through the hiking trails or interesting boat trips to the interior of the caves due to the erosive action of the sea on the granite
Access to Berlenga it is by boat via the port of Peniche lasting 30-40 minutes on average. Visits to Berlenga are conditioned to a maximum of 350 visitors per day to maintain the most natural possible.
