Photographer's Note

Build under the authoritarian regime of Salazar, it was named after him on its inauguration day, in August 1966. But right after the carnation revolution, it was renamed the 25 de Abril Bridge, day of the revolution itself.
Mainly because of its colour, this bridge is often compared to the Golden Gate but in fact, it was built by the same company that constructed the San Francisco Bay Bridge.
On the hill in the background, you can catch a glimpse of the Cristo Rei, the Christ King, a catholic monument of Jesus Christ overlooking the city. Of course, this time, one thinks of the similar one in Rio, though the latter is older.
