Photographer's Note

The Lighthouse at Cape St Vincent near Sagres. this point was once thought to be the end of the world, past which no one dared venture. During the 1400s Portugal's Prince Henry (Henry the Navigator), established at Sargres, the first school of navigation which led to the discovery of much of the then unknown world. To take this picture I had held my arms through separate bars of the gate and sighted through the viewfinder from about six inches away. However, the benefit was the absence of tourists in the picture.
