Photographer's Note
The advantage of visiting cities in the summer is to have long days and a mild climate, but unfortunately often happens to be faced with real invasions of tourists. I had happened in Prague and it was repeated here in Krakow, rivers of people in the streets and endless queues to visit the interior of the castle (in the end I gave up). Here I show you only a small example, a photograph from Grodzka, one of the main streets of the old town.

Hello Luciano,
It is a magnificent street photograph. The sky, however, needs some TLC (which I have attempted in the WS). 👌👌

Bonjour, cher ami Luciano,

buona giornata,
ciao, Giacomo

Hello Luciano
A wonderful example of how big cities in Europe are flooded by tourists in summer.
In Amsterdam, even measures are being taken to reduce the massive visit to the city. Even Iceland is starting to get too crowded at the popular places.
Difficult issue because we would like to see everything ourselves.
Excellent observation.
Have a nice day, groet Rob

Hello Luciano,
Good heavens! The problem is as places become better known, the more people visit them and effectively spoil it for one another. A vicious circle. Visiting out of season can help but then the weather may not be conducive to photography. A well realised documentary image that teaches us something about the modern world of low cost flights.

Hello Luciano,
This photo shows one reason why I find travelling becoming less enjoyable. Travelling out of the season is nicer, but in Europe it's colder and rainier at that time of the year, and the most interesting cities are crowded all year round. What a dilemma! ;-)
The only solution to this problem seems to be to use the crowds for interesting photos, as you did here. What happened to me in Kraków in early June was that I only briefly went inside the cathedral at Wawel, and I didn't even try to see the castle. But in an annex I was completely alone (except for a guard) with one of the most famous paintings by Leonardo, Lady with an Ermine.
Best regards,
Gert

Ciao Luciano,
Looks like the end of the always crowded Charles Bridge in Prague. Krakow is certainly one of the nicest cities in Poland but its not the only one, just as Venice, Florence, and Rome are not the only cities in Italy. My last trip I went off the beaten track a bit and visited Bari, Lecce, Alberobella, Matera, Taormina, Siena, Verona & Padova. All great, and without the tourist crowds. If I must visit a crowded city, I try to go during shoulder season. Tfs!

Ciao Caro Luciano,
Oh, I feel your frustration!
Crowds like this were evident when we went to the Sistine Chapel! Not only were we buffeted around, the numbers were quite frightening!
large groups, you can cope with, crowds. all with one intention, are frustrating!
I was tempted to ask which football match had just finished!!!
There is no answer to the problem for we all want to visit interesting places when the weather is at its best!
Your photograph does, however, clearly reveal the problem that you describe, in a street that shows interesting b/g buildings.
Maybe the Information Centre, on the right, could suggest interesting p[lacs that are less well known!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Luciano,
I agree, it's terrible in situations like this. It's better to visit Mongolia where we barely see people at all:) Frankly speaking, Europe is best avoided summertime, I allways make my trips in Sep-Oct. Still warm in Europe and people are back to school and work. Anyway a good picture that illustrates the situation in Europe during Summer holiday, tfs!
Have a nice evening/

Hello Luciano,
This looks like a really popular tourist destination, it's a really crowded street, but no wonder, the architecture looks very nice and the towers further away make a great backdrop. Very well captured.

Hi Luciano
yup, that's a lot of people getting in your way. Its funny how when 1 person is in the way of a photo its really annoying, but when there are hundreds, it's ok hahaha. Ever think about that? Another interesting observation here, is that I see only white people. Just a thought. cool pic, it worked out well.

I like the term "rivers of people" which you used here, Luciano, indeed a scene mostly we see in NY...
Good depiction of the movement of so many people, clear and distinct outcome, faces expressions shown immaculately. Both towers are well placed in depth.
Buona serata,

Ciao Luciano,
Fighting the crowds can definitely be frustrating, (it's a constant thing here in NYC!), but it also helped to create a lively street scene. I like the older architecture and the towers in the background, too.

Ciao Luciano,
it is indeed like a river of people. Very well captured here. You have used it to your advantage making it a very realistic reportage from the trip. I am visiting Krakow now and then but I don't recall seeing so many people there :) Last time in summer I was in London and it was a disaster, there was no chance to really enjoy anything crowds were so dense everywhere...
This is the busiest street in Krakow though. Grodzka.
I like the church there is it St Andrew's church -one of the oldest in Krakow. While the towers which are very much at the end are of the St. Bernardine Church.
The sky was a bit bright and white -it happened to me on my trip to Krakow last time as well. A lot of light but with a blue sky it would feel more impressive.
Great capture of the familiar to me view,
very well spotted,
M

Hello Luciano, Wow, it is horrible to see such the river of tourists. The same was in Florence and I quickly went away. I rather travel out of season, when there are fewer people. And also the weather is often better. In Uzbekistan it was around 25 degrees, sometimes even colder, but sunny.
Have a nice day

Hi Luciano.
Certainly the crowds of tourists are becoming a problem, for those who enjoy capturing photos, where some people do not bother, but these crowds is terrible, I also suffered this year in September in my trip to Sicily, in some places it seemed a manifestation.
The image is beautiful at the bottom of the street where the towers are cut out.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Well done. I love.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Luciano,
I agree with what you write about traveling in the summer. The main disadvantage of traveling in winter in Europe are the very short days. Not the temperature or the climate (of course depending of where you are in Europe).
Some places really do have a lot of visitors during the summer months which means that for certain museums you sometimes have to wait an hour or longer to get inside ... Conversely, some places become just very attractive and atmospheric with the huge number of people and that's the feeling I get when looking at your picture here from Krakow.
I find it a very atmospheric shot.
BTW, on most places it's also possible to leave the crowds and to find attractive unknown spots that are also enjoyable.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Luciano,
I experienced the same in Prague, end of september, and in Český Krumlov the first days of october, and I put the question: is tourism killing itself? Or is it only trekearthers who care about overcrowded museums, castels, restaurants? The cities are not only overcrowded, but changing into somthing else, less inhabitants and more souvenir-shops.
Have a nice weekend!

Hi, Luciano! First of all, I like this title for the picture. Well done! Although it reminds me a lot of other places and the streets in popular tourist places.
For Japan. I got some cheap tickets, 'cause JAL gave good prices for that time. Wish you were there!
Best wishes!
