Photographer's Note

Walbrzych is a city in Lower Silesian Voivodeship in southwestern Poland, 70 kilometres southwest of the voivodeship capital Wrocław.
The first settlement was founded in the 12 century, in 1536 the first coal deposits were found in this place and for nearly 500 years there was mined a very high quality coal. In 1996 all coal mines were closed. In addition to the coal industry in the city developed the glass industry, chemical, textile, clothing, food and ceramic industries.

In my photo you can see the old part of Wałbrzych with the Shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows, a small church built in 1305 and rebuilt in the 18th century in the baroque style.
In front of the church is the monument to Independence
