Photographer's Note
Oslo Opera House
I wanted to add one more photo to my recent series from Oslo. Here it is, I hope it was worth the wait, while I was busy with other things the last couple of weeks. This is Oslo Opera House (Operahuset), the home of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet. It is located in the Bjørvika district in central Oslo. It opened in 2008 and was international architecture office Snøhetta.
It is not the first modern opera building in Scandinavia I post a picture of. More than ten years ago I already showed the ones in Gothenburg and Copenhagen.

Hello Lars,
the design of the Opera house of Oslo is impressive with the white external surface to be a bit cool for the whole scenery. The impressive sky completes the whole scenery.

Hi Lars,
Nice view with interesting modern architecture, well framed, good contrast with the white FG and people to give a scale at the Opera House.

in some aspects looks like a dark cube of glass inside a snowy field. nice view of the place and the curious surroundings. I imagine how slipper would be the ground if the marble would be polished.

Bonjour, cher ami Lars,

Hello Lars,
It is nice to see you back after some weeks absence. I hope all is well with you and your father. I have been missing the photos of both of you.
At the first glimpse I thought this showed the roof covered with snow. The light is so bright that it could have caused you problems of exposure, but you managed it perfectly. It's a very original building which I think offers great photo opportunities from many different angles. The visitors certainly help to cheer up the view.
Kind regards,
Gert

First thought was of an ice-ring up on the roof of the building, Lars - than realized it was taken late in July, so not possible snowing there...
Modern shaped design with bluish tones of glass, in fine contrast to the white pavement. People animate and scale wonderfully here.
Have a nice Friday,
Ike

Well, Hello Lars,
I was wondering what had happened to you.
Have you been on holiday?
My initial thought was that this was a vast snow slope; imagine my surprise when I opened the photograph full size!
I like where you have placed the building, with the expansive slope in front.
The figures are important in respect of scale and clothing.
The side of the building, with its extension of the clouds and sky, is a most attractive detail.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Lars,
The well chosen point of view shows the modern architecture to great effect and sets it in context. The many people enliven the scene and supply scale. I like the reflections along the flanking wall. Perfectly realised with excellent colours and sharpness.

Dag lars,
Zeer mooi foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,

Bonjour Lars,

Hello Lars,
I did not have the occasion to see Oslo Opera yet - my sons did and took some pictures there. But it seems that many photographers are prone to stick to details or reflections when shooting here. I'm grateful that you show us the whole thing.

Hallo Lars,

Hello Lars,
it's a marvellos picture, the architectect has used simple lines in a fascinating and elegant way and the angle and lens you chose brought out the dynamism of the vast, minimal scenery. The contribution of the clouds is superb, they add interest, contrast and dynamism. The tiny people create a lovely play of perspectives. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

Hi Lars,
I is a remarkable building of modern architecture and stands on one of the most central places of Oslo. Sloping plane must be quite popular on warm and sunny days. I like the sky reflection on the right side.

Hello Lars
It`s fun to walk on the roof here, isn`t? I like a lot this building, and I have been walking here myself. It`s a fine shot of this modern architecture. I like how the clouds and sky are reflected in the glass part of the building. The people on the roof give a good idea about the scale. Very nice work:) TFS.

Greetings Lars,
The pristine white and the dark glass offer a deep contrast, and you've handled it well. Although the shape of the building called "the Pearl" in Reykjavik is circular (ellisoid of revolution) it is quite reminiscent of this roof. Maybe it's all embedded in common Viking genes.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Lars ,
In the thumbnail , i thought that there was snow on the ground ! But that is white concrete pavement , and the contrast with the glass building is superb . Splendid sky , too .

Dag Lard Fortunately the coloratura soprano Castafiore of the Tintin comic strip will never perform in this Opera House; she sings loud to the point of breaking glass! I first thought of a model building given the deserted environment. Thanks for those subtle pavement detais despite intense sun. Groeten
