Photographer's Note

This shot was taken on a trip to Røros.
It depicts the old fashioned thatch roofs on the old pitch-timber houses.

Røros is on Unescos world heritage list because of it's old standing in Norway's history as a great mining town. The mines were opperational til 1977, spaning 333 years of operation. The wooden structures are now rebuilt after the swedish troops dstroyed the town in 1679 .

Røros holds a Winter market or Rørosmartnan, as it is called in norwegian, and it is a sure hit amongst travelers.
