Photographer's Note

Iím continuing this small series of images telling the story of RÝros today, with the special architecture dating back often a hundred and many more years.

Todayís posting is the last image I will publish in the series.

Fjell-Ljom means Mountain HeraldÖ In other words this is the building of one of the two newspapers in RÝros. Fjell-Ljom was founded in 1886 and established in this building from 1891. Fjell-Ljom is still published but nowadays only on a weekly basis.

Today the old newspaper locale houses a unique press museum featuring the old typesetting equipment and other equipment from the early days of newspaper production. The printing press is the only complete old-fashioned newspaper printing press in Scandinavia.

On April 24 2006 I was driving from Sweden to Trondheim in Norway, and reaching RÝros in the afternoon. The weather was quite pleasant, and I decided to stop by to look for some photo opportunities, maybe find something for TrekEarth?

Checking my files I find I made 19 shots in RÝros that afternoon, the first at 15:23 (3:23 PM) and the last at 15:31 (3:31 PM). This means I made 19 shots in different locations in 8 minutes, out of this I found 10 would qualify for TE and 6 have been published. Needless to say I wasnít even out of my car during the photo session!
