Monte Subasio
Mount Subasio is not very tall, 1290 meters above sea level, but it is isolated and from its peak you can see a magnificent view of the Spoletina valley and it goes all the way to Tuscany, to Mount Amiata, the show is fascinating, especially at sunset and with a little mist on the valley floor. On the Assisi side, at 791 meters above sea level is the Eremo delle carceri, a monastery of caves where St. Francis used to take refuge in meditation with his companions.
