Photographer's Note

We find these coins on street corners throughout Italy. It is found near the Trevi Fountain. We reported it when the black plague between 1347 and 1351 that people were praying together, unable to meet in churches. In Italy it is commonly accepted by historians that the plague has killed at least half the population. Only Milan seems to have been spared, though the sources are few and vague about it. Contemporary sources mention the frightening mortality rate: 80% in Mallorca, as in Florence, 75% in Venice, etc..
