Photographer’s Note

tower of look-out of the countryhouse of Presciano, some more to valley, with which it was in visual contact, in the last layer of the hill Albani before the coast lowland pontina.
From countryhouse of Presciano, also it a countryhouse-tower, that was then of the monastery of Grottaferrata of the Conti of Tuscolo, the oil it came for the grave of St. Pietro.
The same name of "Castles" remained to the area, it allows to think about a place strongly strengthened, as where the sour one to be of Rome in the Middle Ages, that doesn't have equal in Europe, apart the Old Castile, so much that speaks of "towered Lazio." In reality all the sour (not only the Castles) was covered from towers and strengthened hamlets, prepared to you look for concentric around Rome, so that to propagate the alarm of possible enemies in approach from sea (with acoustic and bright signals) as the Arabic pirates that came from the coast and to avoid the worse thing: the effect surprise. To the kept neighbor of Campomorto, malarial, only the malefactors accepted to be engaged as laborers.

torre di vedetta del casale di Presciano, un po' più a valle, con cui era in contatto visivo, nell'ultima propaggine dei Colli Albani prima della pianura litoranea pontina.
Da casale di Presciano, anch'esso un casale-torre, che fu del monastero di Grottaferrata poi dei conti di Tuscolo, veniva l'olio per la tomba di San Pietro.
Lo stesso nome di "Castelli" rimasto all'area, lascia pensare a un luogo fortemente fortificato, come dove essere l'Agro di Roma nel Medioevo, che non ha eguali in Europa, a parte la Vecchia Castiglia, tanto che si parla di "Lazio turrito". In realtà tutto l'Agro (non solo i Castelli) era coperto da torri e casali fortificati, disposti a cerchi concentrici intorno a Roma, in modo da propagare l'allarme di eventuali nemici in avvicinamento da mare (con segnali acustici e luminosi)come i pirati arabi che venivano dalla costa ed evitare la cosa peggiore: l'effetto sorpresa.
Alla vicina tenuta di Campomorto, malarica, solo i malfattori accettavano di essere ingaggiati come braccianti.

Hi Giorgio.
There's a great balance in the picture. The old tower is placed exactly where it should and the composition is lovely. The sky makes a nice and soft blue background, while the foreground contains the strong green colour. The tower, seen from a great low POV, does somehow look majestic stretching towards the sky.

Hi Giorgio.

The composition is impressive... but I miss something in the photo.
Maybe I miss more vivid colours or something similar... or maybe is the light. Anyway, the whole photo looks very interesting, but I think it could and should be better.

it looks like a painting, the blue sky is nearly dreamlike. The diagonal grassy foreground gives a good contrast and the positioning of the tower is perfect.

Basic colour pattern of blue, brown and yellow with a strong hint of yellow, a view devoid of any distracting features, which goes straight to the essence of the scene. Good work, if you ask me.

sono arrivata alla conclusione che il blu della Canon e' piu' bello di quello della Nikon - ci sono gradazioni che a parita' di file RAW sono piu' interessanti nelle foto Canon.
come questo (nonostante il PP, etc.)
mi piace molto la composizione - rilassante, equilibrata. esattamente l'opposto della mia di oggi...

In questa foto ciò che preferisco è questo cielo che sembra girare attorno alla Torre. Eccellente POV in inquadratura dal basso verso l'alto leggeramente e contrasti bellissimi di colori.
